Patrick “Pat” Dewees is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a lifelong resident of the Birmingham metro area. Pat Dewees holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a computer science major and a mathematics minor from Samford University. Some of his previous jobs were related to his major such as computer programmer and computer operator. The jobs Pat are in now, however, are accounting related. Mr. Dewees works in the Accounts Payable department of a retail company in Birmingham and works part-time seasonally as a tax preparer. Pat lives with his wife Meredith in Vestavia Hills, a suburb of Birmingham.
Pat Dewees is the author and co-author of three books. He co-wrote Pathways of the Very Young Autistic Mind with Meredith. The book is a memoir of his childhood experiences on the autism spectrum. Meredith wrote some of the chapters based on similar experiences. Pathways of the Very Young Autistic Mind was published in 2017.
Pat Dewees was one of eleven authors whose short story is included in Unexpected: Flash Fiction with a Twist, a book of short stories compiled by the Southern Christian Writers Conference. The title of his short story is “Marco.” The book was published on October 22, 2023.
Pat Dewees’s latest book is It Was a Magical Place, a work of autobiographical fiction loosely based on his memories of going to summer camp as a teenager. It will be available on May 7th.
Pat’s other published works include contributions to the editorial page, mostly the “readers’ opinions” section, of The Birmingham News.
